Speakability Chief Executive, Melanie Derbyshire and Stuart Brown (who has personal experience of Aphasia) were invited to attend the ceremony because the newly published ‘Medical Passport’ had been shortlisted for the Patient Information Award (Printed Materials).
The BMA’s Board of Science approves the judging panel’s recommendations and Speakability was honoured in two categories.
The ‘Medical Passport’ was Highly Commended for the 2009 Patient Information Award (Printed Materials)
The Speakability Website was Commended for the 2009 Patient Information Award (Electronic Media)
Commenting on the Awards, Melanie Derbyshire said,
“It is very important for Speakability to have received these commendations for its Aphasia resources from the British Medical Association.
The real winners are the people with Aphasia who have been involved in decisions about the design and content of both the ‘Medial Passport’ and the new Website. The popularity of our new resources demonstrates that we are responding to real needs in a positive and truly practical way.
We are delighted with our success in both categories and would like to thank everyone who has contributed to these wonderful achievements.”
