Support 'Speak About Aphasia Month' 2012, campaigning to improve customer experience for people with Aphasia

The aim of this year’s campaign is to raise awareness of Aphasia amongst retail outlets across the UK.

Our annual SPEAK ABOUT APHASIA MONTH campaign takes place in JUNE and this year we are hoping to engage shop managers and staff in the simple but effective ways in which they can improve their service to customers who have Aphasia and other communication disabilities.

We will be sending the campaign postcard (click here for the pdf version of the postcard) to supermarkets and chain stores across the UK, and encouraging our Group members and supporters to distribute the postcards to large and small shops in their local area. The postcard will offer hints and tips to staff on how to communicate more effectively with customers who have Aphasia and other communication problems.

We will be launching the campaign on 1st June 2012 through national newspapers and magazines and will be continuing the campaign throughout the rest of the year.

We would greatly welcome the support of you and your colleagues during the campaign and to help us raise awareness of Aphasia in your local community. This could be through a coffee morning, promotional stand or other event of your choice.

We will be able to supply publicity materials, including balloons and postcards. If you have taken part in our campaign in previous years, thank you so much for your generous support and we hope that you will consider helping Speakability and people with Aphasia again this year.

We would be delighted if you and your colleagues were able to offer their support to this year's SPEAK ABOUT APHASIA MONTH campaign. If you would like to support our campaign, please complete this sign-up form and return to Speakability by post or email to so that we can send you the campaign pack.

Thank you so much for your support.
