Congratulations Sine on a fantastic achievement!

Sine Littlewood took part in the Great North Run half marathon to raise funds for the Speakability Helpline and Carers' Workbook.

Sine first came across Speakability through her work in the Stroke Research Network. In January, a close relative was knocked down by a car, leaving them with serious head injuries. Thanks to superb NHS care as well as the amazing support of family, friends and neighbours, they have made a remarkable recovery, but have been left with some speech problems. These have improved with therapy, but the advice and information provided by Speakability's Helpline and Workbook for Carers made a real difference in the early days.

Sine participated in the Great North Run in October, which took her all the way from Newcastle to South Shields. Considering this was the first time Sine had ever run this kind of race, she completed the challenge in a remarkable time of 2 hours and 11 minutes!

Sine wanted to take part in the Great North Run as a 'thank you' to Speakability and to ensure that others are able to benefit from the Helpline and Workbook.

Sine raised around £700.00 in sponsorship, which is a wonderful contribution to Speakability and will be invaluable in helping to maintain our Helpline and Information Service.

Thank you to all those who supported Sine and of course, a huge thank you to Sine, whose achievement will help to provide support for many more people with Aphasia, their families and carers.
